Here’s part two of my Kauai travel guide where you’ll find my favorite activities and places to eat.

Markets

+ Visiting the Hanalei Farmers Market is a lovely way to immerse yourself in Kauai’s beauty, aloha and abundance. Every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon, a large grassy lawn off Malolo Road is covered with more than 50 stalls. I found beautiful hair ties with seashells sewn in that I gifted to my friends (and I kept a few for myself!). Combine the market trip with a visit to Wai`oli Hui`ia Church, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, for photo opportunities and a glimpse of 19th century Hawaiian life.

+ Every Friday from 6-9pm, the Hanapepe Art Walk is a great place to soak up the local scene. The main street closes for foot traffic to explore galleries, shops, music, restaurants and food trucks. Our favorite food truck was Porky's, which serves massive Hawaiian-style sausage sandwiches in fluffy rolls. A must!

Bars and Restaurants

+ Bar Acuda for upscale island tapas in open air seating.

+ Kalypso Restaurant is a casual, fun bamboo bar with tropical drinks and Hawaiian-inspired menu.

+ L&L Hawaiian BBQ for a Hawaiian-style plate lunch with eats like chicken teriyaki, shrimp, macaroni salad, and more.

+ JoJo's Shave Ice (self-explanatory).

+ Beach House restaurant for a romantic oceanside dinner and breathtaking sunsets.

+ Savage Shrimp in the Kukui'ula Village Shopping Center for delicious shrimp plates with flavors like coconut, garlic, spicy and fried.

+ Kauai Food Truck in Old Koloa Town for fish tacos under the shade of a Banyan tree.
